How It Works

Your knee has two compartments: the medial (inner) side and the lateral (outer) side. Healthy knees share the load between them. When one side wears down, every step drives pressure onto that worn compartment, which is why weight-bearing hurts and the joint feels unstable.

An unloader brace shifts that load toward the healthier side. This brace uses a rigid double-upright frame and a 4-strap hold to hold the joint in better alignment and take pressure off the painful compartment. Less pressure on the worn side means less pain when you stand, walk and climb, and the firm frame steadies a knee that wants to buckle.

Not sure which side is yours? Press along the inner edge of your kneecap, then the outer. The side that's tender is the side doing the suffering, and most knee arthritis is medial (inner). Email us if you're unsure and we'll talk it through.

How to Use

  1. Sit with your leg relaxed and slightly bent.
  2. Position the brace so the side hinges sit at the centre of your knee.
  3. Fasten the two upper (thigh) straps first, then the two lower straps.
  4. Adjust all four straps until the fit is snug and supportive but not pinching.
  5. For guided recovery, insert the flexion/extension stops using the included tool to limit range of motion.

Wear guidance: many people wear a support brace during activity, walking, standing, stairs, and take it off at rest. Follow your clinician's advice, and don't wear it through numbness, significant pain or skin irritation.

Sound familiar?

If your knee pain has a side to it, and a mind of its own on the stairs, you already know a stretchy sleeve from the pharmacy isn't going to fix it.

Get my knee brace
  • The stairs are the part you dread now.

Going down is worse than up. That sharp, one-sided ache on every step has you reaching for the handrail and taking it one foot at a time.

  • Sometimes it feels like it might just give out.

On a curb, on uneven grass, stepping off a ladder, the knee wobbles for a second and your stomach drops. So you've started planning your steps around it.

  • The elastic sleeve did nothing.

You bought the $15 sleeve, wore it for a week, and felt no difference. Of course you didn't. A sleeve only squeezes. It can't take the load off the worn side or stop the wobble.

  • Someone said the words “knee replacement.”

Maybe a doctor mentioned “bone-on-bone” or early arthritis and surgery “down the road.” You're not ready for that, and you want to try everything else first.

  • You've quietly stopped doing things you used to enjoy.

The long walk, the garden, keeping up with the grandkids. You didn't decide to stop. You just started avoiding the knee, and your world got a little smaller.

There's a step to take before you talk about surgery.

Why this works where a sleeve never could

A sleeve squeezes the whole knee and hopes for the best. This brace is built to do the two things that actually help one-sided knee pain: take the load off the worn side, and stop the wobble.

  • Memory-spring side supports

Firm, springy uprights on both sides add real stability around the joint, so the knee feels steadier on stairs and uneven ground.

  • C-shaped patella gel pads

Soft gel pads cradle and support the kneecap, cushioning the front of the knee for comfort through a full day of wear.

  • Adjustable range-of-motion stops

Insert the included stops to limit how far the knee bends or straightens, useful for guided recovery after an injury or procedure.

  • Buckles that stiff hands can manage

Quick-release buckles open and close with one hand, no fiddly hooks or wrestling with Velcro. If arthritis has reached your hands too, you can still put this on and take it off yourself.

Fit it in under a minute

No tools needed for everyday wear. Just position, fasten and adjust.

  1. Position

Place the brace around your knee with the hinges centred on the sides, sore side aligned.

  2. Fasten the upper straps

Secure the two thigh straps firmly so the frame won't slide as you move.

  3. Secure & adjust

Fasten the lower straps, then fine-tune all four until it feels snug, supported and comfortable.

How it compares to the other options

Branded OA braces run $150+ and custom prescription unloaders top $1,000 — and most are one universal size. Here's what $99 gets you instead (prices: US market, 2026).

Is it right for you?

We'd rather you know now than send it back later.

Perfect if you…

  • Have pain focused on one side of the knee (inner or outer)
  • Feel the knee buckle or “give way” on stairs or uneven ground
  • Are recovering from a meniscus tear, cartilage repair or knee surgery and need controlled movement

Not the right choice if you…

  • Are looking for a cure, a brace supports and relieves, it can't reverse arthritis
  • Have been told you need surgery, check with your clinician first

Measure before you order. Sit with your leg straight and measure around your leg 6 inches above and 6 inches below the centre of your kneecap. This brace fits an upper measurement of 15–35 in (38–89 cm) and a lower of 12–27 in (30–69 cm) — a far wider range than the one-size braces that leave bigger and smaller legs stuck. Send us your two measurements before you buy and we'll tell you honestly whether it will fit.

And if it still doesn't fit when it arrives: keep it. Email us within 30 days with your measurements, and we'll refund you in full without asking you to post a bulky brace back across the country. Pass it on to someone it does fit. We'd rather lose the brace than have you stuck with one you can't wear.

For active adults who aren't done yet

Made to get you back to the things you'd stopped doing

The walk around the block you used to take without a second thought. An afternoon in the garden. Getting down on the floor with the grandkids and back up again without bracing on the furniture.

You didn't decide to give those up. The knee did. This is about handing that decision back to you, one steadier step at a time.

And it isn't only for arthritis. The adjustable range-of-motion stops make the same brace useful while you're recovering from a meniscus tear, cartilage repair or knee surgery — so it earns its place in the cupboard long after the first flare-up.

Questions before you buy

How do I know it will fit?

Measure the circumference of your leg 6 inches above and 6 inches below the centre of your kneecap, sitting with the leg straight. It fits an upper measurement of about 15–35 in and a lower of 12–27 in. Send us your measurements and we'll check before you order.

If we get it wrong and the brace doesn't fit, you keep it and we refund you anyway — no return shipping, no hassle.

Do I order Left or Right?

Order the side of the knee that needs support, your left knee takes the Left brace, your right knee takes the Right. Each side is shaped for correct alignment on that leg.

Will it actually help one-sided (bone-on-bone) knee pain?

That's exactly what an unloader brace is designed for. It shifts pressure away from the worn, painful compartment toward the healthier side, which can reduce pain during walking and standing. Results vary from person to person, and it works best as part of a plan with your clinician.

Can I wear it all day?

Many people wear a support brace during activity, walking, standing, stairs, and remove it at rest. Follow the instructions and your clinician's guidance, and stop if you notice numbness, significant pain or skin irritation.

Will this cure my arthritis or replace surgery?

No, and we won't pretend otherwise. A brace supports the joint and can relieve pain and improve stability, but it can't reverse arthritis or regrow cartilage. Many people use one as a non-surgical step to stay active and potentially delay that conversation. If you've been told you need surgery, talk to your clinician first.

Is my pain on the inner or outer side — and does it matter?

It matters, because an unloader works by taking pressure off the worn side. Press gently along the inner edge of your kneecap, then the outer edge. Whichever is tender is usually the affected compartment, and medial (inner) wear is by far the most common. Position the brace so the frame supports that side. Email us your symptoms and we'll help you set it up.

What if it doesn't work for me?

You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee. Email us within 30 days for a full refund.
